Bankruptcy Financial Management Course

After your bankruptcy case is filed, you must take a financial management course.  This is mandated by the Court and it must be done within 45 days of your first creditors meeting.

Approved agency

The course must be taken from a court approved agency.  A list of agencies can be found at the Office of the U.S. Trustee’s website at http://www.justice.gov/ust/; click “Consumer Information” and then “Credit Counseling & Debtor Education” to see the list.

Cost

The average cost for the course is $50.00.

Two Hours

The course may take approximately 2 hours to complete and it can usually be done online.
